In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: Transition
Barcelona, April 2006
Barcelona, August 2011
I have to say Barcelona isn’t my favorite city. But the second time I was there, wandering around the port I remembered the shot I took five years earlier, and I thought it might be fun repeated it. You know, to document the difference. I can tell you in 2011 I had five years of working out behind and in 2006 I hadn’t even started. I’m fairly certain you can’t tell any difference, so I’m starting to wonder if I’ve been wasting my time at gym. Other than that, the first shot was taken by my ex-ex girlfriend, and at that time I hadn’t started yet my solo traveling career. Instead I took myself the second shot during one of my first solo adventures. The only thing that didn’t change was the port and its boats in the background. I seem to be lost in thought. If you look at the big picture, I was lost in transition.

Looks like the port hasn’t changed one bit! 🙂

Planning a family trip to Barcelona for next year. Any tips? P.S. I don’t think you wasted time at the gym. 🙂

Ah ah thanks Dee! Too kind of you!! :)) Well the first tip that come to my mind is don’t go in August… It’s unbelievably hot (and very humid). Then, the city itself isn’t too big, so I wouldn’t spend more than 3 days in Barcelona. Other than that don’t miss the Bouqueria!

The family is going in March. Thanks for the tip about the Bouqueria. I honestly don’t know about it. It’s on my list of places to check out now! :))

You’re going to like it, I’m sure 🙂 it’s a kind of farmers market, very particular. Touristic also, but wonderful nonetheless 🙂

How about Madrid. Ever been?

I have 🙂 Nice, I can’t deny that. It’s just that Spain isn’t my favorite kind of place in Europe. But I guess it’s just because it’s very similar to Italy and I like Anglo-Saxon countries better. Though Italy is way better, I’m sure you’re gonna like Spain very much! ;)))

Any tips for Madrid? This coming trip is kind of last minute. Well, the change is last minute. I usually plan at least 8 months ahead. 🙂

Ah ah mee too! Well, the important thing is that you get to travel anyway! 🙂 About Madrid, just be careful what kind of ham you pick! Ham is like everywhere. Very good, I mean very! But some kinds are very expensive, a sandwich might cost you even 40 dollars! But it’s very good also the cheapest one. Then I’ll suggest you the usual tourist stuff, and 3 days are also enough… If got more days, I’m told the country around Madrid is very nice and Toledo, a little characteristic town near Madrid, very cute.

Thank you! It’s helpful to get ideas from people who have actually been to these places. As for Italy, being better, I’m sure it is. It’s on my trip calendar for 2017. :)) Grazie mille, Gian Luca!!
